Apparently, there has been a controversy surrounding Penn State's "White Out" T-shirts this year, at least according to the news media. I'm not sure 6 complaints with more than 30,000 sales constitutes a controversy, but in these disparate politically-correct times, everything becomes a controversy to someone. Apparently the design of the shirt resembles a cross, and thus all heck has broken lose.
Still, I wonder, is this t-shirt really offensive to non-Christians? Couldn't Christians be equally as offended that something as sacred as a cross is being used to represent a secular school and their football team?
No one should be offended. It's a t-shirt. It's not defamatory or derogatory in anyway. Whether the media or some special interest group is just looking to trump up controversy or some individual is actually deeply offended, we'll never know. But just like the licensed merchandise on this site and everything else available for sale... YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT. Certainly there are more important things on Penn State's campus and around the nation to worry about.
If the shirt did offend you or you are looking for some other officially licensed Penn State merchandise that is less controversial, consider a quality watch from our Penn State collection. We doubt it will make national news, but it will make a statement.
